How to Get the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War in Elden Ring

The first time you’re likely to find Hoarfrost Stomp is on the Icerind Hatchet found in the Temple Quarter of Liurnia of the Lakes.

There’s no way to take Hoarfrost Stomp off the Hatchet, but the Ash of War also exists as a standalone pickup elsewhere in the region.

In the northwestern portion of Liurnia of the Lakes lies Caria Manor. That’s not our destination, though. Instead, we’re heading southeast of the manor to a small pond where an invisible Teardrop Scarab flits about the water.

You’ll notice a moving string of silver splotches on the water’s surface. These are the Scarab’s “footprints,” and the creature itself is at the front of these prints.

To kill the Scarab and get Hoarfrost Stomp, take time to learn its movements and position yourself to be in front of it. This one moves in a figure-eight around the rocks to the north and south of the pond. Find where you’re most comfortable attacking, then strike. The Scarab itself is huge and only takes a single hit to kill, so with a bit of patience, you’ll get it.

Upon killing the invisible Teardrop Scarab, you’ll get the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War, which you can now equip to any weapon with alterable Ashes of War.

To change the Ash of War on a suitable weapon, head to Hewg in Roundtable Hold and select Ashes of War from his menu. Select the weapon you want to modify, then select Hoarfrost Stomp, then select the infusion type you want to equip.

In most cases, Standard is fine for Hoarfrost Stomp, as it keeps the default scaling on the weapon, though if you’re focusing on Magic or some other playstyle, Hoarfrost does allow for a few additional options.

Now you’re free to put your foot down and spread some chill across Elden Ring. Hoarfrost Stomp only gets better when you upgrade your weapons, so use our Bell Bearings guide to ensure everything is up to par. There are other good Ashes of War out there, so look to our guide on alternatives. With Elden Ring’s popularity still going strong, our guides hub continues to grow as well.
